I guess that the featured listings function draws randomly from the pool of "Featured Listings" and displays only 5?

So if I had 2000 Featured listings on the website there would be a 1 in 400 chance of the listing being displayed?

Is this correct?

Thanks Michael, I thought it might be something like this.

In theory it is correct as the choice is random. If you think about it, this is why you have a featured link that you can offer so people can go there directly. That is why featured ads appear in showlistings with a different background color so they stand out more. Not sure about the logic or concern behind your question. it is simply a question of how special/exclusive do you want to make your featured adverts.

Also just to be clear this plugin uses MySQL rand function.
Quote:
RAND() is not meant to be a perfect random generator, but instead is a fast way to generate ad hoc random numbers which is portable between platforms for the same MySQL version.
