I'm setting up my site for the 1st time and working along with the manual. In Payment -> manage produts -> shouldn't I have 2 package types to choose from? It only has a "new Listing Package" button, but the manual also refers to a "membership product".

ALso, I created (1) listing package. In trying out an ad listing I get an error message after selecting category in "Step 2" that reads:

Please select a package below

Sorry, no packages have been defined.

Note, there is nothing below to select. My package is not appearing. I'm not sure what I could have done wrong?

Keep in mind V4.1 BETA is exactly that, a BETA product and as the announcement said USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Bugs should be posted in the issue tracker at the link above the forum.

Since that default product was created when there was no categories, you need to edit that package to make it valid. This is a little buggy at present though.

Sorry I didn't know to post there.

I didn't notice that this version was beta when I started. Would I be able to switch to the 4.0 version without losing my work? I'm not a programmer and really shouldn't be working with a beta version. Any suggestions appreciated.

I dont think there is any way to downgrade from 4.1.x to v4.0.x and I am pretty sure the templates are not 100% compatible.

I would recommend you remove the current install and install the latest stable release which is 4.0.9
