Default Compare products: Geodesic vs 68

I am on the edge ready to purchase scripting software and I am very much unsure about which company to choose...someone please help. The only thing I can see is:
geo: $399 comes with the integration with joomla and this will allow me to fully integrate the site I want.

outside of the joomla integration for $199, 68 allows for the same features that I want like user groups, category specific pricing is.

Can anyone help in that product comparison. geodesic is showing a big list of its features for the classifieds and has been helpful.

Thanks

The Geodesic product does look good and in comparing the products features, other than the Joomla integration I only see subscription pricing. The big question is... Is that worth twice the price for the product? Obviously, $399 is twice the price of $199.

All I can tell you is to try out the demos of both products and try them out. You need to figure out what options you really NEED in a classifieds product, and then do research on both companies to see if the support is good and read any testimonies you can find. Some questions you might want to look into for each product:

Are there people that can do modifications for either software?
How often is each product updated? While some software doesn't need updated more than a few times a year, just don't buy software from a company that no longer updates it.

I'm sorry I won't be able to give you a personal opinion of a product comparison.

I bought 68 classifieds developer edition, and I've been VERY happy with it ever since.

Default update questions

does the group pricing feature for 68 classifieds do the same thing as subscription pricing.

Joomla only was brought up because of its integration to use 1 username and password for geodesic...but I don't see what joomla's username can be used for.
Here is my idea:
I want to create a community site to incorporate classifieds, forums, groups, and maybe others. is there anything similar to Joomla? After playing with joomla I would think there would be something a bit easier. Also if Joomla has a user name and password it should link up to anything i add like 68 classifeds, right?

Im not following you on the terms group pricing and subscription pricing. 68c has user groups but not group pricing unless I misunderstand you meaning. There is also no subscriptions. Ads are placed via an "ad package" which is in short the terms that define an ad. Things like how much an ad will cost, what category the ad can be placed in, how many words can be used etc etc.

The word integration gets thrown around so much that its true meaning often varies from conversation to conversation. What does integration mean to you in this case?

You can alter the look and feel of 68c and display it within a joomla site, is that integration? However, 68c, out of the box does not integrate with joomla in terms of sharing its user data, and to my knowledge there is no mod currently to do so. 68c also does not install into joomla as a module or anything like that so any integration in terms of displaying 68c inside a joomla site would involve a little work on the joomla side.

Joomla can get pretty complex but allows for admins and users with various amounts of control over the site. Some joomla sites require people to register as a user to make comments to news sections etc. Other dont allow outsiders to register at all.

This might better explain what I am wondering about.

User Group Specific Pricing - Charge different fees to different user groups. You can separate users into groups when they register so that you can charge them differently.

Unlimited Price Plans - Create an unlimited number of complex price plans and pricing schemes.

Price Plan Expiration - Price Plans can be set to expire so that you can offer promotional specials to users for a period of time before an expired plan is replaced by another plan.

Subscriptions - Charge users to have a subscription to your site. They can then place as many listings as you allow them to, but still be required to pay you for the listing "Add-On Fees" mentioned above for each listing they place.
