Default how can we upgrade to the version 4.2 if we don't know what files are changed??

What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
v4.1.10 Designer

What template are you using?
nustly-ruby

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:
Good Morningh, I'm the webmaster of Megavoce.it (Eric knows my site), in the last year and half, was optimized and customized to be adapted to our needs; each time a new version of the software come out, it was possible to do the upgrade only knowing before wich files were modified.

Now the version 4.2 has come out, and it has lots of modifications, so I assume that for us would be impossible to do the upgrade without knowing the modyfied files. We have too many customisations and we can't afford to re-write everything.

I don't think I'm the only one with this problem, and I think that lots of people won't do the upgrade for this very reason.

How can we update without knowing wich files were modyfied?
What to do then?
Thanks

Albert

Mike supplied a change log and it is added here:
v4.2.0 is now released

As always if you are making custom changes you should be keeping your own records or in some form of private version control.

v4.2.0 is now released .

I know your site fairly well and in your case, I would not start upgrading if nothing is broken or there are no bugs affecting you. We say don't fix something if it is not broken.

Hi Guys,

I saw your post Eric about the update and also the revised one showing a list of files that had changed.

Im not about anyone else but I got confused about which ones were changed as there are several with the same name, eg category.php lol.

Anyway, attached below is a changelog of every file thats been altered, the folder in which it is

Just rename the file and REMOVE the .txt at the end then open in your browser.
Attached Files
File Type: txt 68c Changelog.htm.txt (4.2 KB, 9 views)

Hey Tom,

Just wondering if you can just upload the specific files you have show in your changelog or should we still follow the upgrade procedure. Like you I have a custom template and don't want to risk losing anything or having to reinvent the wheel so to speak by upgrading

Thanks Kris

NO - if you are safe to upgrade you can upload the changed files only but YOU MUST follow the upgrade procedure or the database will not be updated.

When ever you make a change to a file, mark it with comments in your code and keep your own changlelog so you know in advance if it is going to screw up your site.

As David has said,

First you need to check your files see if any are affected. If not then upload the files as outlined in the attached document, (But make sure you upload the entire setup directory for safe measure) and then navigate to www.yoursite.com/setup and let it update the database.

After that its done and dusted. BUT MAKE SURE YOUR MODIFIED FILES ARENT AFFECTED FIRST.

Kindest regards,

Tom.
