Here's my call in the dev env same as live if it helps, using openx 2.6.1. Using xampp.

PHP Code:
<p id="top_banner">
      {
php}

//<!--/* OpenX Local Mode Tag v2.6.1 */-->

define('MAX_PATH''C:\xampp\htdocs\xampp\<mysitename>\openx');
          if (@include_once(
MAX_PATH '/www/delivery/alocal.php')) {
            if (!isset(
$phpAds_context)) {

$phpAds_context = array();
            }

$phpAds_raw view_local(''100'''''0'$phpAds_context'');
          }
          echo
$phpAds_raw['html'];
      {/
php}

I'm not really sure what to tell you, because I'm using an older version of OpenX (phpadsnew [which became openads, which became openx]). I also am running v3.1.10 for my live site. However, I am using the javascript invocation code. The code generated from my ad server includes 2 javascripts and one noscript. The first javascript (giving the ad server info), I don't do anything special for. The second javascript (the one that has the actual ad info in it), I have it commented out "<!--" the code "//-->"

The comment comes right after "<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'>" and then the code and then the "//-->" just before </script>

Hope that helps!
-Mike

thanks for all the replies guys
i gave up i'm trying to use google ad manager

quick comparison so far

openx pro : easy to load your adds
cons: the uspport info database is poor

google ad manager pro I can see it easy coding, adsense comes up straight away
cons: takes 30 min for your banner to come up, not as straight forward as open x.
