apache runs as a "user" on the system. The operating system recognizes their is different users and can control what files and folders a user can access. In order for apache (and in turn php) to be able to open a file/older the permissions of the file/folder need to be set at a level to allow this.

Where exactly do I create the zones or add the code ? I assume in the layout.tpl but nothing seems to work right. I am trying out openx and have set it up but the zones have me stuck. Do you need to be developer?
Thanks, Brent |

Example: Let's say you have a header with your Logo on the top left hand side and you want a banner ad to the right of that. I would create a zone called top_banner in openX. In your layout.tpl file, paste the generated code from openX for your zone next to your logo. On my 68c site, I have a top_banner zone (468 x 60), a top_right (125 x 125) and right_other (120 x *). I also put comments in my code at the beginning and end of each ad placement for my own reference and sanity. -Mike

Thanks for the reply. It seems no matter where i try to put code it doesnt show up right. I think I will just wait till I can get the developer version and maybe I can edit pages more easily.

@ outhere, hey man did you get this to work as i'm having the same problem as you had.
@ Mike, I've tried putting the script in literal tags for java script invocation and i've tried php tags for the in server mode. However in both cases the ad doesn't show at all. Or i get a syntax error. Can you think of anything obvious i might be doing wrong. many thanks chris |
