I don't know why but I can't access the v4 Q & Support forum,
other areas of the forum I am able to access fine but not this one. Is it ok if I post my (v4) question here since I can't access it?...here goes I was towards the end of the instalation process, entering the database information. I got this error on the next screen Database Information Verifying Database Connection: Database Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) Please click back and fix the above errors before continuing What does that mean and how do I fix it? I am instaling the software in a subfolder while I work on it. ex. www.mysite.com/classifieds I have my domain through 1and1 and the MySQL database...not sure what to do, please help I'm almost done.

That most likely means that there is an error in the DB information you provided in the previous page, thus why it is saying to click "back" to fix it. Usually when I see this it is simply a typo with the username or password.

I checked the spelling several times, making sure every letter was
correct. I went back and copy and pasted the info from my MySQL account into the database fields, so no chance of spelling something wrong. I am still getting - Database Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) Does anyone know what this means and how to fix it, if all of my usernames and passwords are spelled corectly why can't I connect to my MySQL account?

Im confused. Are you having problems loading your classifieds or seeing a part of the forum?
If you are having problems installing your classifieds, you need to contact your host and make sure you have your settings correct. Usually when you get a socket eror like that its due to permissions. |
