Default Listing Limit

Hi,

Is there a way to limit the number of listings an advertiser can have for a given package? For example, if I create a free listing package I might want to allow a user to have only 1 active free listing at a time.

Thanks.

Nope. You could just not offer free ads and give people a one time use coupon that gives them 100% off.

Larry, I read your other post regarding this same issue when you said:

"If you want to limit free ads, then dont make any of your ad packages free but instead give people a discount for X number of ads that gives them a 100% discount. That way they place X ads for free and after that they have to pay."

That will work just fine for my needs. But just so I understand... if I create a discount and limit it to 1 then that means EACH user will only have that discount applied once? Is there a way to limit the discount to a specific package? Or is it a discount off of any package they choose?

I think it is going to be more difficult than that in your case because the coupon is tied to a code which you issue. You have to set the coupon to the number you are going to provide in total against that code. So if you say the coupon can be used 100 times then you need a way to stop people using it again and again. If you set it to 1 then it can only be used once in total by all users. Otherwise you will need to issue 100 coupons, each being different and tied to a specific user.

I think you may be better off considering a slightly different marketing approach based upon duration. You could say posting is going to be free for the next X weeks. Then start to charge. You could make this the minimum type of listing - say 1 photo , a few words only. Then offer more extensive packages.

Your marketing idea is a good one and we will perhaps look at it in terms of a module (free ads per user).
