Default ViewListings not showing listings

What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
Example: V4.1.6 Designer

What template are you using?
Default

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

I have a small issue. In the browse page: CATEGORY>> (all subcategies table)

I have a view listings table that is not showing any listings. (VIEW IMAGE BELOW)

I would like one of 2 things:

1- the parent category to display subcategory listings in this area. (AT LEAST FOR NOW, UNTIL I HAVE PLENTY OF LISTINGS, when I will then change to just show listings directly within the subcategory only.)

2- The parent category not to display the empty view listings table. (option 1 would be preferred at least until I have more listings)

I've tried some edits but it doesn't seem to work.

Please remember i am using designer version.

The best is option 2 - The parent category not to display the empty view listings table. (option 1 would be preferred at least until I have more listings).

Go to administration -> manage categories -> and edit this category. Next select allow ads from yes to no. That will hide that table.

Not punting here but another option which I use is the global search module so it appears if the category is empty. That module is available for any template. It can also be used when a search returns no results, saving another click back.

I did what you suggested - change category settings to not show ads. The parent category is now showing all ads, from all subcategories in any parent category page. see image.

It sounds to me like you have tried adding extra coding some where. If you set a category to not allow ads then the listings table does not show. See our demo for an example:
68 Classifieds Animals and Pets - Not allow ads
68 Classifieds Autos For Sale - Allow ads

ok... so what tpl should i look into for code edits? (don't remember as i've done too many!)

browse.tpl maybe?

and how would i change it so that it does display the listings in the subcats... I wouldnt want to delete a {if}

EDIT...
nevermind, i'll just upload the original browse.tpl and see what happens. <------------THIS DID NOT SOLVE IT.

I do notice that the browse page does not show any listings, then when i go further into a Parent Category, i see all listings from all subcategories, then if i go into a subcategory, I only see listings from that subcategory.

Please let me know what you think.

What I would do is replace the category.php and showlistings.tpl with originals. You can rename yours on the server to something like category_MINE.php that way your changes aren't lost.

Using designer version now explains why you were having trouble doing the other edits here to achieve very similar things.

Enhancing browse pages with listings

You cannot do any of this as described in the thread because you do not have access to category.php.

correct.

I have been kind of struggling to produce comparable results with what I have.

I anyways think that with the help of many people here, including yourself, I've done a pretty good job.

Remember what I mentioned in the private email I sent you... This is just a test... If i pass the test... I'll add all those very cool features that you and others have developed.

And just for the record... this is probably one of the best support forums I dealt with... very fast response time and very knowledgeable people here.

Thank again...
