Private Messaging suggestion

I tested the Pm system.

It seems that the email notification is sending the entire message to the ad owner.

I think it's better to send a notification with the url to read the message. So more users return to the site, just like vbulletin PM system.

It will also be good if the notification message also contains information or a link to the Ad that the person is asking about.


Suggested format of the PM email notification.

You have an enquiry on your ad.

"Ad Title"
"Ad URL"

The message is: "A short extract of the message."
Removable from template, so users can only go to your classifieds to read the message.

Click here to read your private message: "URL to PM"

With all due respect Success, this is the whole point of having the Developer Version so that you can fine tune the product to your exact requirements.

Actually the template files are editable in every edition so even with the designer you can change the email templates to suit your needs.

It's not just a matter of changing the email message from template.

Does the template allows inserting variables like

"URL to the private message"
"Name"
"Ad Title"
"Ad URL"

Basically, I am suggesting the notification to send an url to read the PM on our classifieds, instead of sending the entire message. So we get more return visitors.

Maffo, I posted a suggestion for improvement. If everyone just edit the developer source, then what's the point of suggesting features? Everyone might as well grab a open source classifieds and start hacking away. Moreover, not every customer is a developer.

Which is the private message list but they should see what is unread. I have added the var pmid to our repository and it will be available in the next release.

So the member knows which ad the other person is contacting him about, espcially when the member has multiple ads, which is quite common.

The main problem with that is you can send a private message without looking at a listing. But I will try and make a note and see we can figure out a workaround.

I get what you mean.

You are refering to the PM section, where members can send PM to each other just by entering the name, so ad title and url is unnecessary here.

Maybe we can add a loop so the ad title and ad url variables can be inserted only when it's being sent on an ad listing page?

Another part of this solution is a create 2 different templates for PM email notification. 1 for the PM section and 1 for ad listings.

I think the PM addition on v4 is great.
However after testing the pm on my site i noticed that the email isn't showing the 'message' part in the email template, only the user-name.. how and where (dev pack) can I check/fix this problem?
