Question Posting Problem

What version of 68 Classifieds are you running?
v4.1.5 Designer

What template are you using?
Fluid - Custom

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:

A significant percentage of the time (probably around 25%-30%) when a User enters an ad and clicks Submit the ad just disappears. Vanishes into thin air just like they didn't spend several minutes entering all the info. I had one User this morning re-enter the ad 6 times, still no ad. And I can't see any rhyme or reason which ads disappear. One User has 3 ads up and the next one they try to submit disappears. I receive a copy of all ads submitted and when it disappears it sends me an email just with their User info, no ad info.

If anyone has ANY suggestion where to look to solve this problem, please reply. It is ruining my classifieds. People who go to all the trouble to fill in all the form only to have it disappear don't return.

Which site, what browser and version of it?

Can you personally replicate this behaviour? Sounds like they forget to press the submit button on the final step.

What do they see as they navigate the ad polacement process? Are all steps being displayed to them properly and are they getting the thank you page after the final step?

Check your server error logs and see if anything is showing in them.

I have no idea which browser they are using. That would be a nice thing to add to the email the Admin receives when an ad is placed. It happens on all 4 sites listed in my signature.

I use Firefox, Chrome and IE7 and I can't duplicate the problem.

I replaced the Submit button with a Continue button on the Preview page and removed the Edit button so they have no choice a couple of months ago. Didn't help.

No problems show up in the error logs.

HELP! My ads have gone from 1600 to 300 and are continuing this down trend.

Your going to have to contact your clients ho are having problems and ask them what browser and OS they are using.

Also, if you log into admin and look at your orders, are there any incomplete orders?

You'll need to post a link so we can get more information. If it was working and then suddenly not, its either a problem introduced when the templates/system changed or your host changed something.

I believe these sites are all established and have been up and running with no changes for some times (correct me if I am wrong mgravlee) so if thats the case, I agree that the host must have changed something, assuming they are all on the same server.

Yes, these are all on one server. And their links are below. Can't think of anything I have changed on this server that would affect this except upgrading to MySQL 5.0.92 and PHP 5.2.14 All other updates are done by cPanel. This problem has been going on for a long time and I have just been negligent and ignored it.

These 4 sites all use the same database. I'm not sure how/why that would affect anything.

Sorry, but we dont really have anything to go on here to offer help.

Did you look in the admin of your sites and see if there are any "incomplete orders"? Orders get created at the early stages of ad placement.

Good idea, Larry. If I can't find anything there I think I'll switch to the default template and see if that helps.

Thanks for all your ideas!
