Default How membership module works..problem?

v4.1.10 Developer
3col

Hi,
Excuse the ignorance here, but I need to clarify something.

(Bit of background info first)
I have the membership module installed and have set up the memberships:
Gold, silver, bronze..
I have a default membership set up to accept no ads, membership duration 999999 days and have set it active.

Before purchasing the membership module, I had set up the same 3 ad packages, (gold, silver, etc) and they remain active).

Okay, so back to membership module:
If we take the the gold membership, cost: 100..
User selects Gold and pays, goes through the paypal process and then clicks the continue button to return to the site.

They receive the thank you page and click place an ad..
They choose the category and proceed to enter the details for the ad.

It's at this point that I'm a bit baffled because the user is then taken to a verify your information/billing details page and are expected to pay again.
It's asking for payment for one of the ad packages I set up outside of the module.
The thing is, why is it not just allowing the user to place ads without this process?
If the module allows users to place x amount of ads for x amount duration, why would it need to pull anything from an ad package set up outside the module?

Is there something I should have/not done?

If an ad package needs to be set up in order for someone to place their listings after purchasing membership, what is the point of 'membership uses' within the module?

Sorry for this long winded post.
Hope you are able to help.
Many thanks

68C ad packages define the "rules" for ads, you cant place or edit an ad if it doesnt have rules to follow. As the modules documentation states it makes heavy use of 68C's default user groups, discounts and ad packages.

When you set up the membership what usergroup did you assign the membership to? What membership is assigned to the ad package? log into admin and look under payment -> coupons and discounts. When someone buys a membership it should create a discount for that user, it should also specify the user group that it applies to and the user itself.
