Default Membership module questions

Hi, I have a few questions regarding the membership module.

1. Is it setup to accept PayPal recurring subscriptions with IPN support? If so does the expiration messages/emails only get enabled if IPN tells the script that the subscription has been canceled?

If not, do you have any plans on adding recurring subscription support?

2. Do you have to create a default group so that all registered users belong to something? Or is user registration and signing up with a membership two separate things?

Thanks.

When you buy a membership the site visitor uses what ever payment method is currently available via the default 68C payment methods. So you can pay via paypal but there are no reoccurring subscriptions. There has not been enough interest in the module to come close to compensating me for the effort initially put into it so frankly I do not currently have any plans on adding any additional functionality.

User registration is required by 68C and that requirement is carried over into the membership module. By default 68C visitors who register automatically become a member of the registered users user group. My module take this one step further and will allow you to specify a "default" membership which gets applied to ever new registration on the site.

When a user buys a membership they are in essence buying a discount which is good for a predefined length of time, number of uses or both. In 68C discounts are automatically applied at checkout time for applicable ad packages and user groups.

My site contains some pretty thorough documentation but at the end of the day you really need to understand how 68C works in terms of ad packages, user groups and discounts and how they can be set to affect each other etc.

Thanks for the reply. Not having memberships is a big missing feature with 68C. I'm surprised your module hasn't been more popular or hasn't been adopted by 68C as standard functionality.

68C at one time did have a membership type system however, people being what they are, they would never do their homework and research exactly what the membership system did and as often as not they would buy it because it had that functionality, find out it didnt work they way they wanted and complained to no end.

68C asked the user base how it should work and got as many different answers as replies. So how do you make something no one can agree on?
