Nice - well done Mike. If you or Mike contact me I have a couple of little enhancements that you may want. Namely, a gallery for the viewlisting window and clickable titles in the horizontal listings. Like this My Classifieds Website Featured/Bold . It looks better of course with actual pictures.

If not you may also wish to make the width of your thumbs a little less (you are fixed width) so 4 fit on the inside of the view listing window.

Please bear in mind that this site is not finished yet and we are still working on several items for the final look and feel.

Images in featured listings are stretched/scrunched. I know people like to see nice square i mages but personally I wouldnt advertise on a site that ruined my images, especially if I was trying to sell technology. It makes the seller look like they are clueless and incapable of sizing an image.

In firefox, the category list of large icons is staggered down the page.

Interesting - they do not stagger for me on the home or browse pages in FF.

The image question is always a difficult one. Whatever you optimise upon, people will put in something different. You say put in landscape proportions and they will put in portrait and visa versa. If you let it go free form then you have a site full of various proportion images. That doesn't look nice either.

I came to the conclusion a while ago that the only thing you can do is say, look at your advert. Have you put in a well proportioned image. Perhaps it would be good to provide advertisers with a tool to trim and scale their images.

Ideally I would put in a well proportioned image to start with BUT in order for me to do so the sites rules on how it handles images should be clearly stated. If images do not have borders, I find images of slightly different shapes and sizes less offensive than images that are stretched and squished. Stretched and squished images simply scream "amateur".

You would never create a set of navigation buttons on a site where some are squished and stretched, why would you allow images that way?

Yup - on my french property site, i used to spend hours writing to people to use their common sense on images. Some listened but as many didn't. Used to spend hours trimming images for people because they did not know how to do that. Here is an online tool which does not look bad to point people at. Perhps it is overkill

You can email me at [email protected] about the enhancements you mentioned.

The link you provided only shows a gallery on an individual ad which is still a nice option but do you also offer it for the homepage for all featured ads? I didn't see how much this feature cost in the link if you could let me know.

Also I specified under the 68 admin console for the thumbnails to be 150 pixels height and 150 pixels width. How can I make the 4 thumbnails fit inside the view listing window?
