Hi there,
pre-sales question Just wondering whether it is possible to intergrate a form of payment system (escrow) for buyers to pay the sellers for the items listed on the website. Also is it possible to add some sort of rating for sellers (like on ebay etc..) to give buyers some sort of reassurance ? Regards Jason |

check out classifiedmods.com for the current modules and add ons available, there is a seller rating mod.
As for a payment system (is buyer to seller) thats not something currently incorporated and I doubt it ever will be. My personal thought on the subject is that as a site owner you are openings yourself up to a bunch of extra liability and work when you want to act as a middle man. If you have PHP skills and buy the developer edition you could likely do something like this on you own.

Larry's right.... it's unlikely that payment for items on display will ever be incorporated into the system. Firstly, it's a bookkeeping nightmare. However, if you collect money on someone else's behalf with your merchant account, it violates the merchant account user agreement.
(Please don't ask how I know that last bit of info.... )

HI there,
I am in receipt of your replys, the reason for me wanting to put a payment system on the website, is to encourage traders to use the website who can post out dvds, cds and computer games (small postable items). However, they would want payment BEFORE sending out the items. Any ideas to get around this ???? Regards Jason |

Jason,
It can be done without you acting as the middle man. You need to do a few things. Not least update your your legal page to protect yourself. Secondly not to be the holder of money. PM me to discuss the technical side. It really depends upon which methods of payment you wish to support and how you wish to support them. David |
