I've taken a look at this and it seems to be related to IE's poor support of .png files.
I'm in the process of including a conditional IE stylesheet and replacing the .png files with .gifs

We're continuing to debug. However, it's tough to know whether the slow page loads are related to our script or to this old pc I'm working on.

Here are some factors that are clouding a definitive answer:
- this PC I'm using is slow to begin with. It took 13 seconds for a new tab to appear and 31 seconds for yahoo's homepage to appear! Tough to debug a slow page when the computer itself is slow.

So, because ALL pages on this PC load slowly for me, I am ignoring any time that passes before any elements of a page appear. Once something appears on one of the demo's pages, the load times do seem to be shorter by doing the following:

- replacing the .png files with the gif files as mentioned above (only a few have been replaced, will replace the others in a few minutes)
- I turned off "Smart Image dithering" and this seemed to help as well (I'm using IE7 and when I researched this feature, it turns out the there is a bug with it as well. Apparently, choosing "Off" turns the feature on and choosing "On" turns the feature off)

If we can come up with a definitive answer as to slow IE page loads, we'll include the solution in an update.

Thanks for your patience.

Over the next few hours, you may see broken images, broken links and errant behavior as we work on this.

Thanks-
Thanks for setting it up. I could not find the access to the admin panel. I tried this link but it did not work. http://demo.68classifieds.com/v5/adm...tion/index.php

Thanks.

I did some more testing through the admin...it actually seems to be worse now than before. I have noticed that once the page loads the links often do not work for about 10 seconds or more...it appears that something is being processed in the background preventing things to work.

Everything seems to be running fine for me, I am using Chrome though. Is it just me or does V5 seem to not have all the things the older versions had?

Yes, it appears the problem is focused on IE.

No, it is not just you. It does not have all of the features that v4.2.x has, however it also has several things that v4.2.x didn't have as well (ie: admin defined product upgrades [not just limited to "Featured", "highlited" and "bold"]; tiered "Pages"; cart based purchasing; Admin defined "Contact Forms"; and more)

I can not speak for 68 Classifieds myself, however it is my understanding that with v5.x because of it's modularity, the base script is not going to have as many features as previous versions, therefore keeping the "base" price down. You can then purchase whatever add-ons that fit your needs for your particular market/needs/desires.

Bear in mind that this is a complete rewrite of the software from the ground up and is based on a new framework and it no longer uses the Smarty Templating system.

This means that there are no Smarty plugins, and no Modules or Templates from any previous version of 68 that will work with v5.x. In order for any of those items to be compatible, they must be re-written and in the case of a smarty plugin will need to be converted into an add-on/module and/or a helper file.

Also bear in mind that this is a BETA version of the software. Not everything has been fully implemented as of yet and the templates are "bare bones" currently (e.g. not all inner templates have been created or links to features that aren't available as of yet.) I would actually consider it more an "Alpha" release than a "Beta" release.
