Bulk Uploading-Adverts Via Feeds

However I have to say that clients we work with on this have sizable budgets. It is not a simple thing to do and always requires customization. It depends a lot on the category and extra field structure as to what it involves.

Sorry to interrupt Michael but your post is not helpful pointing people to unsupported software. I do feel obliged to say something.

Maffo no longer does anything with 68C and his software was for version 4.0X from what I can see. It is not supported and it is not in classifiedmods.com either.

Only this week I have had to spend a lot of time with a frustrated customer (and it has cost him) to resolve conflict issues between out-of-date and unsupported modules which do not work with newer versions of 68C. And they still don't work and it has put his whole plan in the bin because the module was in his opinion critical to what he wanted to do. Other developers who may wish to comment have experienced this same problem too with unsupported stuff.

It is actually not the way to do bulk uploads anyway as techniques have progressed. Dealers in many industries have systems which output XML feeds. Even if you do have a CSV file you can use many free convertors on the web to get the data into an XML file. You can even pay people to scrape other sites and make an xml file for you. Then there is management of the data itself and being able to manage/delete listings without having to do it manually. Try deleting 500 adverts and replacing them with a new bulk upload which has 400 of the old ones and 150 new ones on the same account. The way to do this is with XML feeds where there is an admin panel which supports the type of operations which will be needed in managing bulk uploads and the data in your 68C system which comes from these uploads. It is a time consuming and relatively expensive thing to do.

Sincere apologies to anyone who may have wasted time pursuing the links in my previous post. You are quite right of course David, I really hadn't put too much thought into it before writing and clicking the submit button.

I goofed.

Don't worry about it Mike, we all have these days and mine was yesterday. Just thought it was going to be a wild goose chase and then if found, problems would come the way of the current developers and customer. Sorry if I was too direct. It was really not my intention and was just reeling from 6 hours of bug fixing.

There are lots of programs and services out there which will make an xml feed for you. I do not know this one. Also there are very cheap service companies that will scrape an existing web site and make a feed for you. Here is an example from the property industry xml2u.com
