Exclamation SEO mod install problem...

Hi there,

We are using 68c v 4.0.9 Developer (which we upgraded our old V3 site to some months ago).

I have only just got around to installing the SEO mod again (as several months ago it would not work - the latest v4 version).

Having seen a noticeable drop in traffic over the last three months decided it was well worth trying again.

Anyway, following the instructions to the letter, with the .htaccess file uploaded before activating the module, we cannot access the site or the admin area. We just get a 'page not found' error page. If we go to regenerate the module list before uploading the .htaccess file, we just get a blank page so we cannot activate it.

Anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks in advance!

From what you describe you have done everything right. Can you submit a ticket with your ftp details and admin login and I will see if I can figure out what is going on?

Some web hosts require a .htaccess file for their web space to work properly. When this happens, they have specific directives in an existing .htaccess file. If you upload the one from the SEO mode and overwrite this default one you can cause problems.

Ideally you should check to see if your site has an existing .htaccess file and if it does, append the contents of the one that comes with the SEO module to it instead of overwriting it.

Red face Sorted

Hi Guys, thanks for the suggestions, but we sorted it.

It was no problem at all with the SEO Mod, but our server configuration.

We use ISPConfig with Fedora 9 (I assume users of RedHat and CentOS would have the same problem) and AllowOverride was set to None by default D'Oh!

Also, the modules would not regenerate with the vbulletin usershare mod in the modules folder. That could just be a coincidence though

Thanks again
