Default Problem with newsletter module

Hi there - when I click 'Admin' for the newsletter in my installation of v4, I get this message:
Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "send.tpl" in /home/busplace/public_html/includes/classes/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

Apparently this is supposed to have been fixed, but I only just downloaded the mod and the problem still exists (for me, anyway).

Thanks in advance!
Joseph

Can you double check the send.tpl file is uploaded to modules/newsletter/templates/ folder?

I just downloaded it to double check and it should have this file structure once extracted:
  • newsletter/
    • admin.php
    • config.php
    • language/
      • english.php
    • templates/
      • send.tpl
If you downloaded it and are not getting this same structure then i would recommend doing it again.

Is it possible to allow non-members to signup for the newsletter?

I dont beleive its currently support and doing so I think would open the door further to potential abuse.

Wouldn't signing up for a newsletter be collecting the same type of information that it takes to register? Perhaps you should consider what you require in the admin for registration to accommodate whatever it is that concerns you.

In other words, what information is it that you feel that your end users would not want to provide that would be different from signing up for a newsletter as opposed to registering for the site?

And if you dont require some form of verification, and Im a competitor, whats to stop me from simply signing up a bunch of people? Then those people will get your newsletters, unsolicited may I add, complain to you web host and likely get you black listed.

I can understand your desire to make it easy for people but its a double edged sword and you have to understand that requiring registration protects you, potential clients and even strangers.
