When I go into the pages in the page editor, I can not make modifications. The html code remains in place even after clicking on Hide Editor. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

This most likely isn't the case, but just in case. Did you check your administration previlages for your login?

Disable all ad blockers like AdMuncher and Adblock plus. Clear the cache of your browser and try again.

I have the same problem, If I copy HTML to the editor that is what shows up on the page, If I click the HTML icon nothing happens. It appears the MCE editor does not work. I've tried to upgrade the editor to no avail. What seems to be the problem?

Running Developer 4.1.0 RC4
