If I want to trim down my countries list (to mainly English speaking ones due to my site), can I do it by simply deleting the rows using phpMyAdmin or do I need to do it one-by-one through the admin/settings/country panel?
I've confirmed there are no users with countries I want to delete, but I figured I'd ask in case the panel script does more than just delete the records from the 1 table. Thanks.

You are less likely to make an error if you set up your countries in your admin control panel.

If you know what you are doing yes but many on the forum will not want to be touching their database directly. The chance of mucking it up is greater if using phpadmin and as you point out you should always make a backup first. Overall, not a lot to gain really.
