Default How can I access MYSQL?

I have the hosted version and want to better understand my database because I want to build a module. My question is how can I access my database? When I ftp to the site folders I do not see it anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Most web hosts, when you log into your cpanel or equivelent web based admin, has a tool called phpmyadmin which will allow you to view databses, tables, run queries etc.
