Default beta vs. developer v4.0.9

hello,

i am a bit confused and i am hoping to get this clarified:

when i purchased 68classified's hosting a couple of months ago i downloaded the folder called 'Developer-v4.0.9' to my desktop.

however, i tried to work with these files in dreamweaver and whenever i would go into design view it didn't look like any design view i had seen before and i have put together quite a few html/javascript websites before.

not a big deal, i thought i might as well just edit and put together my site inside plesk and the admin area. my site is starting to come along and i like the software. now i just need to market the site and try to attract some customers.

my questions are:

1) i just noticed that i am using the beta version for my site. (i just assumed because the folder i first downloaded was called 'Developer-v4.0.9' that identical version would be inside my plesk and administration area).

2) is it possible to have the 'Developer-v4.0.9' version in the download area of your account and have the beta version inside your plesk and admin area?

3) is it possible that i am actually using the developer version and it is just mistakenly being labeled as 'beta' when i post in the forum?

4) if i am actually using the beta version would you recommend i delete my site, start over and upload the developer version? ('Developer-v4.0.9' doesn't seem to work at all like other html files i have used in dreamweaver, so wouldn't want to do this)

5) could i just upload 'Developer-v4.0.9' into my admin and plesk and just design the site from within plesk and admin. (i prefer working and designing it directly in plesk and admin. i want to forgo editing offline and using an ftp).

6) any suggestions?

7) is the beta version buggy? or will it work just fine. or is changing versions something i have to do?

8) if so, what is the easiest way to do it without starting from scratch?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

Hi.

1. Your are actually running v4.0.9. You can confirm this in your administration.

2. Yes it could be possible but we only install the stable version on the hosted account. The beta would be only be installed per your request.

3. Yes on the forums it is a drop down field for you to select what version you are running. I have not been able to make it say "Please Select". The beta is the first selection.

4. No. See #1.

5. No. See #1.

6. Nope.

7. Yes that is basically what beta means. It is the first few releases and bugs are present. It will be released as just v4.1.0 when it is officially released.

8. Just stick to what you are currently using.
