Default How easy is the SEO mod install?

I am not an expert coder so before buying SEO mod I would like to know if it is just uploading a htaccess file or adding on an option to admin panel?

Or is there core code changes? Do I need the developer edition for this?

Just upload the module and .htaccess file and install/activate it via the module management page in admin. No need to have developer version or coding skills.

The exception would be if your not happy the way it rewrites the URL's then you may need some skills to tweak things but its not required/needed.

Ok thanks again Lhotch for the replies

You are a great help!

One more thing on this issue... Is there a demo somewhere that shows HOW EXACTLY the SEO URLs work?

You can check out: 68 Mods

It has this running and I do not believe I made any modifications to it.

I installed this and when I click a category it is indeed trying to go to
north-austin-autos.html
instead of category.php?cat=north-austin-autos
but I get a 404 error.
I disable the module and it again works by going to category.php?cat=north-austin-autos.
I installed the htaccess file.
Any idea what may be wrong?

If you are getting a 404 then I can see a few things to try.

1. Make sure the .htaccess file is uploaded to the root of your site.
2. Make sure your server supports mod_rewrite.
3. Let us know if you are installing in a sub directory or not.

I'm installing in a subdirectory of the domain, yes.
Mod-rewrite is supported.
.htaccess installed in the same directory as the 68 classifieds.

I deleted the .htaccess and uploaded it again and now it seems to be working fine.
Damn gremlins anyway.
