The competitor doesn't have: Memberships or Coupons! These are very cool.

If the code I post doesnt make any sense or work as posted then you should spend more time reading the various manuals and tutorials so it does make sense and you can tweak it to work. A sure fire way to get yourself in trouble is to implement changes you dont have an intimate understanding of. Im happy to help, but I am not here to teach you to code or create your site for you.

I'm doing a comparison between a competitor and 68. I still feel 68 is a little over-priced for the stage it is at in it's development cycle. I'd like to see some of these missing features installed, and not as pay-to-add modules.

Talking

...Don't forget the quality of the assistance, BEFORE and AFTER the licence purchase.
...and this forum !

Honestly, let's compare what can be compared. I've tested many php scripts for ads. Even if the support and the original script is in english language (I'm french), I'm totally satisfied of this choice.

I've chosen 68Classifieds for many reasons, but the first is (according to me the most important) : the confidence. I know that if I had a problem, it would be fixed in a few minutes... And Eric knows how complicated my questions can be !!! lol

I'm a professional of the customer support, and I really appreciate the relation between 68Classifieds and its customers (and the relationship between customers in this forum). It is really RARE. I can't put a price on that !

Of course, if you don't need any support, if you think you're able to manage such a complete (and complicated) script, I do agree with you : don't buy 68Classifieds. But don't also buy the concurrent script. In a few months, you'll find a less expensive product and regret your purchase...

I am not sure where to find good scripts and I only go to hotscripts.com and they gave a high mark for 68.

The guys here also are helpful which what matters most to me.
If there's anything I like the script to have, a built-in ad manager and nicely placed ad zones but I don't mind paying extra for it.

Thanks,
Mike D.

I see several things that you marked as unavailale in 68C, that are indeed available and freely included. You might want to review a little better before posting something like that on the developer's site (whose product you are slamming!). Sheesh.

I'm not slamming anyone, I'm asking for more features! lol You guys are a little negative.
Which features that I marked unavailable are actually available Civ?

I'm not looking to start an argument, I'm just trying to say look, we need more features.

I'm also not bashing the support! The guys here are fast and helpful, if not the staff then the other users. Don't get me wrong and don't read this as negative. I'm just wanting some of these features but I don't think it's fair we have to pay for "modules" to get them.

Also, these kinds of statements don't really do the support community much good. This would have been better suited as an email to the script developers.

I'd like to correct your listing of features just a bit:

There is the ability to add listings to your favorites.

There is a free module for user ratings which adds the ability to leave review for sellers. I've managed to include these ratings in all the results to help aid in the filtering of ads before they view listings.

The instructions for the seller store module - which is free is in the readme.

All that is needed for the secure payment integration is an ssl cert - you can pick one up for less than 30 a year. Further, most payments are sent to a secure gateway, not sure what else you need?

You can post feed back via the contactus page, what were you wanting a forum style feedback built into the classifieds?

Banner ads isn't part of a classifieds system, there are many programs out there for you to add banners to your page. While many might want this, many may not. You might suggest any software that provides service to webpages should have it as well as a cart built in. Why not ask Google why they don't have a classifieds system built into their ad system?

As far as I know several sites are using adsense/adwords in their site, are you suggesting that the developers need to support other programs? I'd think support for third party scripts should be supported by third parties. I don't ask Eric or any other person in this forum to trouble shoot my modules that my customers pay for.

As for the full control via the admin panel, you can edit your templates and the style sheet via template editor. What else are you wanting to edit that can't be done there?

As for a few other features, I know some of them have been asked for and some of are being developed for the next major release.

And as it has previously been stated what is that scripts level of support? How many people provide free help in their forum on how to modify the script? How many modifications are made by developers, what is the general level of community support. I'm sure there will always be another script that does something that this script doesn't have, but I'm sure that will be true of the other script as well. I think 68 Classifieds probably adds new features more often that other scripts and is more actively being developed.

I don't want to sound rude and that is never my style but almost every post of your's that I've read has been in this vein. Why don't you take these issues up with the developers, why keep repeating them a little differently in various threads? It is almost as if you were an agent for some other script.

You can always add to the wish list thread, develop modules and sell them, make code publicly available in the forum, request support or make complaints via the ticket process or bug system. I really don't see how this topic benefits any of the members.
