Image verification problem

I was running an older version of v3.1 so I thought I best upgrade to v3.1.10. However, after doing this the verification image is not appearing on the registration page. I've disabled it just now but I don't want a lot of spammer so is there a solution to this/?

There's no reason that should happen. I would recommend that you check your uploaded files. It sounds like the captcha file(s) may have not uploaded correctly.

Damn. Nochex isn't working either now! You go through the process of placing an ad, select 'Nochex' and when you click continue it doesn't take you to the payment page but straight to the thank you page

Actually I'm not too fussed about that one. Was good to give a payment option but I think only 3 people have ever chosen it over Paypal.

The image verification isn't working for me. Instead of displaying the image, it says "service no longer available."

I had disabled it for this reason months ago, but someone said they were getting spam emails, so I put it back in, but people can't send emails at all, to respond to a post, if they can't see the image. (Also, if you click on "if you can't see the image click here" nothing happens.)

Sometimes as in during any given day it may work 50% of the time? Or did it work consistantly for a while and then stop?

The reason I ask is that more often that not if a site works fine and you havent made any changes and it all of a suddon doesnt work right its usually due to the host making changes on their end.

I've seen this issue once before, somehow you are not getting the max attempts variable freecap is looking for. I believe it is stored in the session. I can't remember exactly what I did since I was was hacking up the code, but finding that info was enough for me to find my coding error and get it fixed.

Possible?:
forgetting to assign the variable to the template
forgetting to put the variable inside the template
overwriting the max attempts value
corrupt file on server
--Less likely
browser setting/cache
clear templates_c directory

Hope this helps, if I can find the code I was working on I'll shed more light on the issue.
