Default Search Error

The search link returns the error:

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Using version 3.1.10

Here's the server error log:

[Fri Jan 4 07:33:37 2008] [error] [client 68.222.183.205] File does not exist: /home/sellav/public_html/500.shtml
[Fri Jan 4 07:33:37 2008] [error] [client 68.222.183.205] Premature end of script headers: /home/sellav/public_html/search.php

Any help would be much appreciated!

It's been like this from the start. Installed it about a week ago. Submitted a support ticket and still waiting for an answer. Just thought someone here would have an idea. See for yourself here: www.sellaviation.com

This is a new install and it has never worked. See if you get the same error for the search page at www.sellaviation.com

Thanks for your help.

Are you using the developer or designer edition?

Do you have an unmolested copy of the default template you can try?

I'm using the designer edition. I put the entire default directory back with all unmolested templates and still got the same error!

It doesn't appear that you actually have the "search.php" file in your directory!

Mike, just for grins I removed the search.php file to see if I get a different error and I did. When I removed the file I just got the 404 error. With the search.php in place i get the 505 error "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request" PLUS "Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request"

Can you use any of the search functions on the admin side of the site?
