Default Disable login

Hi

I am looking for a way to disable the user login. I don't want the visitors of my webpage to be forced to login to be able to place an ad. I am redesigning the 68Classifieds to be a system for reporting errors for anonymous users.

Thank you!

Regards

Oyvind

Hi

Thanks for your feedback

That is not quite what I ment. What I want is to remove the login mecanism so that users can place an ad without having to register or log in.

Are the ads then going to be free? The reason I ask is that the user registration info is used and sent to online payment providers. If you dont collect this up front you will sooner or later. The benefit (one of many which I will touch on) is that members wont have to enter these details every time an ad is placed.

With that in mind if ads are not free you will not onlyhave to make fairly extensive mods to bypass portions of the site (ie registration) but may also have to redo payment options as well.

Additionally the biggest reason to require registration in my mind is to reduce spam. If you allow people to place ads without registering or requiring some way to control who has access to populating your database you can bet that within a couple short months someone will be using an automated script to fill you site with ads for porn, viagra, refinancing etc etc etc.

Hi

The ads are going to be totaly free. I will never charge for them.
The other point you are making is ofcourse important. I don't wish to fill up my database with porn and Viagra ads. So what I will do is to aks for a very simple registration. Just username and password. Is this possible? Will this prevent the spam or do you recomend to go trough with the whole "activate your account using e-mail links etc"? The point is that this is to be used for people in my local comunity to anounce the city council about damages on roads, pavements, tagging, garbage in the street, broken street lights etc. They really shouldn't have to log in or register to be able to do that.

Regards

Even with just asking for username and pass your setting yourself up for problems. If you have a site visible on the internet spammers are going to try and exploit it and you need to discourage it buy having user registration and authentication via e-mail.
