I have created an extra field to the add listing.
The extra field is drop down box "New or Used" which I have applied to ALL my categories. I have over 350 categories but I do not have seperate New or Used categories. What I would like is when people search, an extra drop down box field so they can choose to search only New or Used items (as defined by the user when they placed the add using the extra field as mentioned above) I understand that most would simply have seperate parent categories,New and Used, but with 350 categories this would mean I have to create 700 categories, 350 for used and 350 for new. I hope I have explained myself properly... Thank You

If when you created the extra field you selected that its included in search, it will appear when the user selects a category on the search page. The reason it works like this and not all extra fields show up on the search page when 1st loaded is because you can have many extra fields and they may not all apply to all categories.

Ahh, so it does. Thank you for that.
. However I want it to appear on the first search page, so they can see it before choosing a category. I understand what you say about it may not apply to all categories, but it will in my case. Can I make it show on the first search page ? edit: Another aspect of this is that extra fields are not searechable UNLESS the user chooses a category first. What I really need is for the extra fields to show and/or be searchable on the first search page, before a category is chosen. Thanks
