Displaying extra field in Search and category listings

Stick with me, this may take a bit to explain.

I have a Real Estate section on my site and I am starting to get a few ads in it. However, when a person comes to the site and browses the categories, the Ad listings display the sellers location, which may be different from the property for sales' location - this will be true if it is listed by a Real Estate agent.

I have created an extra field called 'Property Location', which when the user places the Ad can fill in and this kind of puts the viewer on the right track. But it would be nice to be able to display the 'Property Location' field instead of the Sellers Location in the search & category lists.

I was thinking about this and wondered if it is possible to have it 'on the fly' replace the value of the 'state' (I use the state field for sellers location) with the value of the new "property Location' field, so when they see the list of Ads, the field up the top will still show State, but actually display the property location.

I'm no coder so I don't really know where to start but I'm sure all you smart guys (and gals) may be able to point me in the right direction.

Any help much appreciated.

Or, is anyone out there having the same problem and come up with another solution.

You will need the developer version to include it in the search results. I have a mod for this.

As for the rest, create an extra field and just have them include the location when placing the ad.
