adding meta description to titles

Hi all,

Have seen a thread earlier about adding meta descriptions to individual title tags could you please let me know if this would work below as highlighted in red ?

<title>Birmingham Classifieds, Birmingham free Classifieds, Birmingham free ad's, free classifieds for Birmingham </title>
{assign var=desc value="Birmingham classifieds"}

Not sure if this is the right way to go about it ?
