Question Erratic template behaviour . .

I've installed my template on two sites successfully but for some reason it simply will not load on the third. All sites are managed as subdomains on the same server (mymaindomain.com/myclassifieds/administration, mymaindomain.com/mymotorads/administration etc).

If the environment is equal and the template unchanged why will it install twice successfully but give me a 'Remote server or file not found' error page on the third attempt?

Confused . . .

I had thought of that Larry but permissions are consistent across all sites, (0755 for folders, 0644 for files). Besides, all other templates are working fine on each site.

Clearing the cache (local and remote) made no difference either but running the URI through the W3C Markup Validation Service gave me a 500 Internal Server Error report.

So . . . I'm thinking it's something to do with my php.ini file.

Off to work, back to this later . . .

Red face

Any ideas on this? The php.ini file is the same one, all settings on all sites are identical but this template refuses to work on one of the sites.

I'm stuck . .

Could be something going on in your .htaccess file.

Point a browser at one of your template files....

ie http://yoursite.com/templates/default/layout.tpl

does it display the text of your template or do you get a not found error?

If you get a not found error its a server config issue.

I get the text of the layout.tpl file - what does that mean Larry?

That sounds like it isn't parsing the file(s) as php files. I would check to ensure that your index.php file and your init.php file are not corrupt, but I honestly don't know nor have I ever heard of such a strange issue.

You don't have a stray index.html file in there somewhere do you? what does it say in your .htaccess by the way?
