show all sub-cat's on home page

Hi all,

I am aware this question has been asked serveral times, I have managed to get my sub-cats under their respective parent category heading like so ;

{if $data[td].total <> ''}
({$data[td].total})
{/if}
<br />
{$data[td].subcats}
<!--{$data[td].description}-->


However as pointed out in other threads by default it only shows up 3 sub-cats, now bearing in mind I have the hosted version and have limited access to files, is there anyway of showing all sub-cats on home.tpl by overriding the default value ?
