Default NEDE HELP! templatecodes template install problem

I uploaded everything as instructed, and I have a good working version of 4.9 68C installed. When I go active the module TemplateCodes. It totally messes up my site and I get a white page with the following error. Any help would awesome.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/dfwfirea/public_html/modules/templatecodes/hooks.php on line 28

The only way to recover is delete the the reference to TemplateCodes in the database under class_modules table.

First, I moved this thread to the proper forum which is for TemplateCodes as this post is specific to the use of the third party software.

I also assume you mean that you are actually running 68 Classifieds version 4.1.9 as there isn't a a version 4.9.

It sounds to me as if you either have some file corruption in the uploads to your server of the TemplateCodes folders or you did not active the modules that are required as per Template Codes instructions. I would ensure that you are following all of their instructions for the installation and use of their software. If you have then, try uploading the files again and follow their installation instructions.

I responded to your ticket this morning.

I think your hosting provider is running PHP 4 and you need to ask them to give you PHP5 on the server. As a side point, they should not object because PHP 4 is very much out of date and not supported by PHP themselves.
Few hosting companies will refuse as it is a little embarrassing for them to be serving an unsupported out of date piece of software.

What version of 68 classifieds are you running. To be sure, go into your admin control panel, then the dashboard. It tells you on that page. I have a sneeky suspicion (I could be wrong) that you are running 4.1.2 and need to upgrade.

The installation process is very straightforward:

upload modules (all of them including freecap) into the modules directory.
upload all the templates into the templates directory.
go into your admin control panel and activate the templatecodes module. It activates all the other modules.
Then set your main template in template settings to your preferred color (this appears first to a new visitor).
Then return to the modules screen and hit the admin link on your switcher. Then highlight the templates you want to display (don't highlight the default though as it has no switcher in it) and submit.

Job done.

P.S There may be an issue with 4.1.2 and the very latest version of PHP5 which Eric has a fix for if memory serves me correctly but still you should upgrade your 68C core software to run all of the TemplateCodes software. We highly recommend 4.1.6 onwards which is marked on our site.
