Extra field smarty error

Please describe in detail the issue you are having:
When a mandatory extra field is not filled out or mandatory option has not been chosen, they get the following smarty error. I have three mandatory extra fields and all three get the same error if not filled in before continuing. Please see attatched picture.

Have you made any changes to the template file or is it just stock? Also have any includes in the layout template file?

The only thing done to the template.tpl is some commented out links and added a couple links to the footer. No, there is no includes in the file.

Do you have the alternative address module active and installed. Also try using the default template files for checkout by temporarily renaming the checkout folder supplied in the templatecodes template folders. This forces the default to be used.

Alternate address was the problem. After deactivating it the smarty error went away. I would like to use the alternate address, is there any way to have this looked into to fix this problem. Thank you for the help.

Nope - it is highly likely that this module will be abandoned in future releases. Conflicts occur with it when used with date fields and calendars for example. There are no easy fixes

Do check in your version of step3.tpl that the these lines are this way round though.
