Default Slip-Stream template codes templates BEFORE installation of 68 Classifieds

Hi
Just need a little help on a FRESH CLEAN install of 68C. I have downloaded the v4.2.3 version of 68C and bought Sigma series templates + the modules separately.

What I would like to do is; slip stream these Sigma template + Modules in to 68C BEFORE installation.

So I started with copy and paste the "modules" folder, "templates" folder and the "ajax.php" supplied by TemplateCodes (sigma) in to 68C main installation files. (This will replace ajax.php in the process)

Now I want to delete the 3col, adode, cherry, deepsea, default, purple and purplicious folders supplied by 68C main installation package. Is this OK to delete?

Then I plan to make Sigma-Green as my default BEFORE install. Hence when the installation completes I am left over with the only Sigma-Templates and the site is displayed as Sigma-Green.

Hope this makes sense!

Thank you
Best Regards

I understand what you are saying, but NO THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE AND WILL NOT WORK! That would be like trying to make chocolate milk without the glass!

The modules and template are addons to the core of 68 Classifieds. All templates rely on the default template being there. You can't activate modules unless the software is already installed (just like you can't add chocolate or milk without the glass). You can't set a template other than the default again until the software is already installed.

Glass = 68 Classifieds installed
Milk = 68 Classifieds default template
Chocolate = modules, plugins, templates

To successfully make this, it has to be done in order or you will have a big mess to clean up.

You can delete any other templates besides the default.

OK that is fantastically explained. I actually like your analogy!! No problems I will not try this route then.

I have not tried the slip-stream route but this morning I tried 68c installation as normal, implemented the TC templates and modules afterwards, which perfectly worked fine. I switched the default to Sigma-Green from admin, which was fine too.
Then I deleted the 3col, adode, cherry, deepsea, default, purple and purplicious folders supplied by 68C main installation package. Which was OK too. It only showed the six sigma-templates on the site. I thought I have done the job.
The problem came when I took the site off line, the main page errors out with this message"Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "" in /home/pcf1/public_html/classified-ads/includes/classes/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1092"

I check the line 1092 of the file but it is a blank line (Carriage Return in Notepad++).

Hence I asked my original question. I could PM you my site URL if you would like?
thanks
best regards

Is this resolved yet? The process is straightforward as Mike has explained.

You don't need to delete templates really. They do no harm sitting in the templates folder.

I will try and reinstall from scratch tomorrow. Basically how do I hide non-sigma templates switching from the dropdown combo box? I know there must be a way so the user can't switch to originally supplied templates. The problem is if the user switch to default from sigma then the user can't go back to other templates as there is no option to switch. I.e. the combo box disappears.

There should be a admin link in the modules for templatecodes template switcher module where you define the templates allowed.

In the administration click Settings, click Modules, look for template switcher module, next to it should be an admin link.

If you select the sigma templates only using the admin link on the module (modules part of the admin control panel) that John mentions then only the admin can see/select the other templates from the front-end. Neither a visitor nor a registered user can see the default template for example. Please read the instructions as it mentions what to do if you are the admin and you happen to use the template switcher to select the default (i.e. clear your cookies and for good measure the browser cache). It is designed like this because the admin may wish to test something out on the default template for debugging purposes.

If you go to the demo site: 68 Classifieds Version 4 Templates a visitor nor a registered user can select the default. Only an admin level user can do that.

I have done everything as you suggested. All working as expected. I can only show sigma-templates as I expected. Thank you for your help!! (And yes I have not deleted any thing this time).

But I think there might be a BUG on the sigma-templates when site is made OFFLINE. (Or could be my settings??)

There is an error on home page. Current is Sigma-Green. But error is on all colours.
