Default Viewing site when offline

Hi,

I am finally going to get round to upgrading my website to the latest version of 68 classifieds. I know from the main settings in admin I can take my site offline while I do this. I was just wondering if there was a way for me to view the site 'live' once I have upgraded (and it is still offline to others) to ensure that everything is okay before it goes live to the public?

Many thanks.

There is no official way, however depending on how your web hosting server is set up for order of the default index page, you may be able to set up an index.html page that will show when someone uses the URL yoursite.com/

Then you visit your site at yoursite.com/index.php. Many web host servers have it set so that if the index page is not part of the URL, it will go to the index.html first. Hostgator is one of the webhosts that does it that way. You could find out by simply uploading an index.html file and testing it.
