When enabled (SEO V 2.1.1) The navigation links (Home, Search, Contact, Browse & Featured) point to a .html page .... Clicking these links for example takes me to www.mysite.com/contactus.html

which displays an error page with

Multiple Choices
The document name you requested (/contactus.html) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.

Available documents:

* /contactus.php (common basename)

Please consider informing the owner of the referring page about the broken link.

sounds like you dont have the mod installed properly OR your server doesnt have the mod_rewrite enabled.

did you implement the .htaccess file?

Just double checked and noticed I'd accdentally named it htaccess instead of .htaccess

Having changed that I'm now getting a 404 error on those links

and have you cleared your sites cache?

Just trying to find out about my host and its policy on mod_rewrite (1and1.co.uk)

Ok I think I have managed to get this to work by adding these lines to the .htaccess file

Strange - you should only need this

(sometimes you may need to rewritebase depending upon what you are doing and where your site is in relation Apache module mod_rewrite)

I would ask your hosting provider. I presume you are doing this on a live server?

Just to confirm that adding RewriteBase / under RewriteEngine On worked, maybe a 1&1 issue - If anyone else is having this problem try that.
