Default Time Zone

All

I'm sure there is an easy solution to this question. We are in UK and on GMT, our server is 5 hours behind on CST. Therefore all our ads are showing the 5 hour delay. Anyone know where to change this, I have searched through the forums and I only seem to be able to find server based changes. This is the quote from the hoster:

"However, I am afraid, that such chnaged cannot be made to the MySQL server. Your application however should have a setting for altering the site's time."

Thanks in advance

Mark

does your host allow you to override the date.timezone = declaration in the php.ini?

If so try doing that.

You can also add this to the language file:
define('DATE_ADJUST', '-5 hours');

That will only change the date from this point forward when items are added to the db.

Thanks Eric

The hoster wasn't going to play ball on access to the php.ini file but it does seem as though this mod will work.
I will have to implement overnight though, when the mod is saved then all new ads do not appear as new ads as they are already 5 hours old.
Not too sure which english.php file to use so I added the mod in both
/language and /administration/language.

Thanks again

Mark

For future reference hosts will never allow you to modify THEIR php.ini BUT many of the system wide php.ini settings can be overridden by creating your OWN php.ini in your web root, or sometimes its needed in every directory, depends on the host. And this was the method I was referring to.

See where you are comming from, I may try that route as well - always like to know what can/cannot be done you never know when it will come in handy.

Cheers

Looks like on some hosts you can do it from a .htaccess file:
