Default Protecting folders with index.html

Hi all

Very quick question.
I want to have an index.html in all folders that should not be visible to the normal visitor. This index file should be our normal layout with header, sidebars etc and the main body text is something like "You do not have permission......".
I realise that I can just put in blank or permission denied page or even a redirect but really want to keep the layout etc the same.

Cheers

Mark

Im not sure what you are asking for here? Just point a browser at your sites home page, view source code, copy it and past it into your new index.html file. It wont be dyunamic but will get the point across.

If you want it to be dynamic, your are going to have to have and index.php file which calls the smarty templates like your current one does.

The file that gets automatically loaded when a directory is pointed at and no file is specified is a web server setting. Most have a list of files to automatically look for and load if found but this can change from server to server.

Most have a list that looks like this and if the first file isnt found

index.php
index.html
index.htm
etc
etc
