Default Update to v4.1.5 question ....

I'm always leary about upgrading when things are working good, but I'm in need of a new module that will only run under v4.1.5, so I have a couple questions if I may.

1. I purchased and am running v4.1.3 developer. If I upload just the changed files indicated for both version 4.1.4 and v4.1.5 that have changed since v4.1.3, plus the setup folder, that should be all that's needed, correct? I have made a lot of changes to a lot of the other core files so that my site displays the way I want it to. I have already placed ALL my current changes from the 4.1.3 files into ALL the updated files indicated in the changelog.txt file.

2. While making the upgrade, and taking the site offline through the admin function, can I go to the site through the admin even though it's offline to all others? That is the proper procedure, correct?

3. And last, but not least .... if things do go wrong for some unknown reason, is it a major problem going back? Is the actual sql database updated through all this, and if it is, would that be an easy fix?

Just wanted to ask before I continued.

For 1. Providing the files you have changed are not being upgraded (replaced) there should not be an issue. However, there is no gurentee that your files which you changed previously will still work (it depends what you did to them).

For 2. Well yes but if you are quick it is hardly likely to be down for more than a few minutes.

For 3. and in general before doing any upgrades for whatever reason, I would advise that you make a copy of your FTP space and your existing database. That is the only sure way to get back.

For the module you refer to, you only need to be at 4.1.4 but if you are gong to upgrade then you should go to 4.1.5 anyway.
