Default Subdomain install - Blank Page?

hi,

I have just installed my site on a subdomain for testing/dev work, but having followed all the steps i now get a blank home page and can't access the admin pages either, also coming up blank. Had a similar problem before but this was to do with modyfying the english.php file which I haven't touched this time.

Here's what I did;

1. Setup subdomain test.mydomain.co.uk which points to mydomain.co.uk/test
2. Tested subdomain url by dropping a simple html file in the root, OK
3. Backed up live MySQL database
4. Created new database
5. Imported backup into new database
6. Assigned existing user to new database
7. Changed connections/classifieds.php to reflect new MySQL database
8. Copied filesystem live to /test

Have tried accessing admin on both test.mydomain.co.uk/administration and mydomain.co.uk/test/administration but same result on both.

I did manage to get into the admin site at one point and change the site URL, but this doesn't work anymore and the only thing I did was to clear the templates_c folder as advised in another post.

Have checked the test database and the URL is OK eg is shows the subdomain in the admin table

Help please

Many thanks

Sean

I would reupload all files in the directory.

The site URL is one of the admin settings which is stored in the database, did you alter that to point to the proper place before importing the database?

hi larry

I have checked the database and in the admin table (URL) field it says http://test.mydomain.co.uk

My connections/classifieds.php reads

$hostname_classifieds = 'localhost'; // Hostname of MySQL server
$database_classifieds = 'test_database_name'; // Database name
$username_classifieds = 'user'; // Username for MySQL
$password_classifieds = 'password'; // Password for user

//Prefix for the tables
define("PREFIX","class_"); //table prefix

//license key
define("LICENSEKEY", "licence key");

Have replaced values for secuirty, but the only line I changed was the database name line and have double checked this is right.

??

Regards

When you copied files from original site to new domain folder did you copy the contents of /templates_c? If so delete the files in there.

Do you have an index.html or index.htm sitting in your subdomain directory. If so delete it. You should only have index.php
