Question Changing Logo on hosted account

Hi All,

I have tried to change the logo on my site from the '68 Classifieds' logo.

I have a hosted account at the moment so I have tried using the system provided by going into:

'Template Settings'

'Logo Settings'

and then uploading a simple image from 'my pictures' category. This then shows the 'current logo' correctly as saved, unfortunately when I view the site it still displays the '68 Classifieds' logo.

'Mike-n-Tosh' has allowed me to download a great instruction section describing how to change the logo but unfortunately I do not seem to be able to use this as I do not have the access to the coding as I am presently on a 'hosted' account.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

P.S. Although I am not ready yet for the site to go officially live (still 2-3 months work needed) it would be nice to understand what I am doing wrong with such a simple task!

I was under the impression that the hosted sites get ftp details so you can change the template files.
Are you sure you did not get and ftp details?

Hi Bowers,

Yes I have the FTP info, did not know that I had to use that though.

I have just been back to the 'Logo Settings' and after choosing the linking to 'my pictures' all that is available is a box for the 'Logo Title' and a 'submit' button.

The correct logo is showing in the 'Current logo' box. Can anyone explain please how and when I use the FTP proceedure, surely the 'submit' button does that?

Thank you for your kind words regarding the download of my free book excerpt. Please bear in mind that the excerpt is for a previous version of the software as is indicated which is for version 4.0.x.

The new version of 68 Classifieds, v4.1.x uses a little different code then before which enables the new feature in the administration to allow you to upload a logo image. Once you upload a logo image within the administration, then that should over ride the display of both the "template_title" and "template_description". There is no need to use ftp nor make changes in the "layout.tpl" file as it is already coded to accommodate an uploaded image for your logo.

If you have uploaded an image file for your logo and it shows within the administration, then something else is going on here. If the logo displays correctly within the administration, you can eliminate that the file didn't upload properly. That leaves the following as issues:
1) The browser that you are using is using it's own cached file. (Either try a different browser to see if it displays correctly or empty your browsers cache and view the site again)
2) The Smarty rendered file (in your templates_c folder) did not update. (You can either use ftp to delete the contents of the templates_c folder except the "index.html" file or you can use the "maintenance module" to clear the templates_c cache.)
