Default How to show listings on browse category page?

Hello all.

We just upgraded to 4.1.3 developer edition and the TemplateCodes template system. Here's a link to our test site; we've not upgraded our live site just yet: 68 Classifieds

My question is ...

On this page: 68 Classifieds buy, sell

We want to show the subcats like you see now followed by all listings ordered by featured ads first, followed by the rest on the category page.

When I say all listings I mean all listings in the parent category which would mean all in the subcats. We have set up a few subcats and added a featured and a standard listing to the subcats as a demo to test with.

I'd think that a piece of code that shows all listings in the parent cat would do this but I have searched the forums for an answer and can't find one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !!

- Richard

I would recommend checking out the category.php file where it pulls out the listings and also the includes/classes/kernel/listings.php class file. That is where all the listing info is pulled out.

Eric,

Thanks for getting back to me.

If I change $showlistings='N'; to $showlistings='Y'; in category.php then all ads in all categories are displayed. That's close to what I want but not exactly.

Can you tell me how to change this so that only ads within the selected category show instead of all ads in all categories? When I select a subcat, only the ads in the subcat show fine, so adding code to show only ads within the parent cat should be doable right?

Thanks!

I just found a thread here Display ALL active listings under category list where Eric said the following:

I've been able to get all ads to show on the category.php page but could anyone suggest a solution to get this to work on a page like category.php?cat=buy-sell ??

Thanks!
