Default Admin view listing duplicate description variable

Hello.

Our magazine has fairly strict style rules which also apply to the classified listings. For example, a mobile number is always written as xxx xxx xxx where as a land-line is xx xxx xx xx. We like a space after a comma. We like to capitalise the first letter of a new sentence.

Often a user will enter an ad that doesn't comply stylistically with our style guide. Therefore we have to manually alter all the elements of the description to make them comply.

So what I'm trying to do is in the administration/listings.php page, create a second description box (done this in template) and fill it with a corrected version of the description text with a button for approval by the admin. This text would be corrected automatically using php's great string handling. I can figure out how to do this. However I'm wondering if somebody can give me a pointer as to where to pick up the description variable to duplicate it into another variable for processing. Also where should I do my processing... in administration/listing/php or as a function / module.

Sorry for the php dabbler questions, but any directions at this stage would be most useful.

thanks

From what you describe I would go with a module. Manly because it would require any core edits.

However if you want to add it in manually then I would say look in the Listings class file. It is responsible for inserting, editing, deleting, etc..
