Default Redirect Loop issue on public site

Hi
using the software for the first time on 68 Classifieds. Have created a ticket but maybe someone else could help and save Eric time etc.

I have created payment options (featured & free) and categories but 1st the package option does not show up and 2nd after i created a listing in the admin. I can now not view anything on the public section (all worked before I created categories/ listings etc).

Now when I go to the public section I get a redirect loop issue which basically tries to go to login.php and then keeps on looping thru it and after 20 or so attempts times out. with this error.

Redirect Loop

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

The browser has stopped trying to retrieve the requested item. The site is redirecting the request in a way that will never complete.

* NOTE: If accepting the site's cookies does not resolve the problem, it is likely a server configuration issue and not your computer.

anyone got any suggestions?
btw i have removed the whole website and then tried again and same error. I have not yet edited any of the settings etc as im kinder tired of doing all the work with nothing working properly.

Thanks

You might want to create a ticket as well. I am sorry to say but I do not remember the fix of the top of my head. When you do create it please include administration login so I can duplicate it.

The problem I had was that at the time the software was installed on a Windows server. When I switched it to a Linux server it worked fine!!

So is this a known problem?

I ask as the "requirements" page does not say this, it would have solved a lot of problems for me and others..

The only "known" problem is that microsoft products beat to the rhythm of their own drum and are proud of that fact. Im sure there are plenty of 68C sites happily running on a windows system but generally speaking windows servers make for very poor web servers and people who try and run dynamic scripts of all types on a windows server generally speaking run into far more problems.
