Default upgrade of mysql - ioncube problem - can't access administration

My server was upgraded:

Mysql database from 4.1.22 to 5.1.48
and php version from 5.1.something to 5.3.3

Good news: front end seems to be working. I have even got a new listing today.
Bad news: I get the following error messages when I try to access: http://domain/administration

Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. File(/usr/local/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-20090626/../../../../../../home/ioncube/ioncube_loader_lin_5.3.so) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home/xxxx:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home/xxxx/public_html/administration/includes/init.php on line 3

Any suggestion what to do here? For the moment I'm not able to get into the admin area

Thank you Mike. I really appreciate your fast reply and support. I followed your link and as I'm on WHM, there should be following options - as I read it:

Quote:
The solution or workaround to open_basedir restriction problem is that disable the PHP open_basedir protection altogether, or to exclude the protection for certain privileged user accounts, or to allow access to the additional directory for PHP scripts.

If youre using cPanel WebHost Manager (WHM), you can easily disable PHP open_basedir protection or exclude certain users from the protection with WHM. Simply go to Tweak Security under the Security section, then select Configure link for Php open_basedir Tweak. Inside it, you can enable or disable php open_basedir Protection, or exclude and include hosts from the protection.
I tried the last one: going WHM -> security center -> PHP open_basedir Tweak -> exclude protection (for host = web domain).

Result: The error messages disappeared - but now there is a blank screen = still no access.

Any suggestions?

Sorry to bother you again. I still have this issues unsolved and obviously it is not ideal not to be able to enter the administration area -> it is blank.

1) Any suggestions?
