handling two languages

I want two languages on my site, from instance German and English from which the visitor can choose from.
What is the most efficient way to do that in 69 classifieds?

And what files do I have to change to accomplish that without corrupting the original english files?

And are all the translations put in only one file, e.g german.php ?

And how do I link all this?

I think there is a module available on classifiedmods.com for multilingual stuff. This may do what you seek to do.

In general, I would recommend making two separate systems in subdirectories because automated translations always look awkward and inaccurate. Adverts side by side in different languages rarely look good either.
