I've purchased Maffo's Bulk Upload System for use on a car sales site in my home town of Milton Keynes. The domain I wanted - mkmotors - is taken and so I've bought mkmotoring.co.uk and miltonkeynesmotors.co.uk
I see advantages and disadvantages in both but would welcome your input. Time's on my side, I won't be starting this project for some months.

Since you've already bought them both, why not go ahead and use them both. Pick one and domain forward the other. It's just a DNS thing.

Oh I'll use one as a forwarding domain for sure but I have to choose a URL for marketing purposes. Local radio airtime, press ad's, flyers - you get the idea.

From search engine ranking point of view the miltonkeynesmotors is definatley the best. What I normally do is try and snap up a name like that but also have milton-keynes-motors.co.uk as well.
As an example, imagine you are google. Somebody looking for a motor in milton keynes will probably search for "milton keynes motors" or "motors milton keynes". Its very unlikely that somebody will type "miltonkeynesmotors". The - is accepted as a space in a domain and seperates the words up!! .co.uk domains are only a few quid so for that extra notch on the SE's I would get the extra name. Use the hyphenated one for the actual website and one of the un-hyphenated ones for marketing. Did you see that MKautos.co.uk is available? My advice is only search engine related.

I am with Maffo. For SEO purpose miltonkeynesmotors is better and having hyphenated and un-hyphenated domain could help as well.

Lots of good advice, especially from an SEO perspective. I had no idea about the significance of hyphenated domains.
Thanks.
