Default Website for sale

If we have a webstie for sale (HorseOptions.com - Horse Classifieds for Everything Equine - built through 68 Classifieds), what is the most accurate method to get it's current value and what is the best method to advertise it for little or not cost?

Basically, we would like to advertise this site for sale as a site that is completely ready to go. A marketers dream to hit the ground running. No customization required.

Please advise. Thank you.

Hi Rob -

There are a variety of ways of coming up with a value for your website. However, most methods found online will typically have such a wide range of suggested values, they're virtually worthless. My suggestion would be that you just step back and ask what you feel that it's worth.

As far as where to advertise it, you having already begun advertising it by placing this post
You could also modify your site and add a banner stating the site is for sale.

Hope this helps.

One method I know of is to set a price that is equal to the last two or three years gross income. Eg: Your site's gross revenue over the past two years was $100,000. Therefore your sale price could be anywhere between $100,000 - $150,000.

Default What is it worth?

I buy sites based on the age and appeal of the domain name, monthly unique visitors which return on a regular basis (ie. revisiting due to changing content) and recurring revenue which is based on the same organic traffic volume. Selling a website that is an established business is no different to selling any other business as there are many agents that will help you sell, selling an idea with no revenue or established visitor base is harder and as such your sale price will be limited also meaning agents won't be motivated to sell it for you as there is little for them to earn on commission. If you'd like to give me the above info about your site I'll let you know what I'd be prepared to pay, if at all. I hope I've helped.
